Is my transmission toast?

Guys, the other day my "Service engine soon" light came on and my car limped home i.e. I only had 4th gear. I shut the car off when i arrived home, waited a couple of minutes and turned it on again. My "AT Check" light flashed a few times. I left it overnight and started it up again today. Only the "Service engine soon" light remained on. I drove it for about 20 miles and had all gears working with no issues. I stopped by Autozone to read the code and they came up with P1772 (Low coast brake solenoid valve). Anyone know what the hell that is and what connection it has to my transmission?

nope wouldn't say that. sounds like solenoid failure. don't know much but i think you need to check for power in the solenoid at a particular gear. not sure what result demands what action for repair but your tranny is not dead dead.

The code is detected when the gear required by the ECM does not match the actual gear when vehicle is driven.
You're tranny is not dead but since everything runs fine still get it checked out don't leave it.
Possible causes
- Low transmission fluid level
- Dirty transmission fluid
- Faulty low coast brake solenoid valve
- Low coast brake solenoid valve harness or connectors
- Low coast brake solenoid valve circuit is open or shorted

Thanks guys. I finally got round to checking it today (It has been parked with battery disconnected all this time). The dipstick indicates that i am right below the second notch which indicates that i need to add more oil when checked while cold. I'll try that and hopefully it solves my problem.
