Is it normal to hear skidding noise when ABS is working?

When I apply the brakes suddenly (2004 FX45 driving at 40-60 mph on dry blacktop, excellent road conditions), I can hear the ABS normal mechanical noise and the pulsating effect on the brake pedal, the stopping distance is excellent and handling of the car is perfect as in there is no side skidding, however I hear skidding noise from all wheels as if they have locked, like if the ABS is not working. A friend of mine who has a 2009 Passat CC told me that he does not hear such skidding noise in his car when braking at such speeds, and that it should not be if the ABS is working.

It is normal in our FX's?

So do you hear skidding or feel it? Sometimes the tires can make a scrubbing sound even while ABS is working during hard braking. If your car is actually skidding, then something is wrong.

The tires are fairly good, I have them replaced a year ago, it is a bout time to get new ones and I will see if they are the reason.

I can confirm there is no skidding because the car is under control when braking, it is only the sound of skidding that I hear and wonder why.

I used to hear the same noise. I always wondered about it because I never heard it in other cars but never paid too much attention to it. I assumed it was normal.
