Installed a CURT Class III Hitch - 2" (Product #13558) trailer hitch today. The installation instruction did not require removing the bumper, but it did require the following: 1. lowering the muffler and 2. pulling back on the bumper to make room to drill 4 holes on the aluminum bumper.
Well, I was not going to mess with lowering the muffler so I removed the bumper (found a post here). The two screw driver trick worked on removing those plastic push tabs or whatever they are called. The s-clip at the base of the mud-guard required a pliers to hold the s-clip in place or else it will twist and break off the plastic mount it's on.
I should have jacked the rear of the car to give me some room to work under the car, and it would have helped when removing the plastic clip tabs around the wheel well.
There was no need to cut the bumper. I can post images if requested (or post a link to my images taken during the procedure.
