Installed my First Mod: LMS SRI

My first mod, installed with the help of my neighbor, Humberto offered to help to install on monday (thanks!) but couldn't wait til then

I picked up the LMS and the throttle body spacer from LeBron last night and just finished installing it

had some problems on the way though...

First, installed the TB Spacer..

Only to find out the Z-tube of the LMS would stick out and not attach..
So we sawed off about an inch of the LMS Z :embarrassed:

And then it fit perfectly..

Kind of dirty, I think.. :xd:
But I finished my first mod!

Thanks Lebron and Humberto for awesome help :top:

Oh umm.. some nub questions.. what does summer have to do with open cone? lol..
and what alternatives should I go with then? Stillen intake?

and I just took it out for a drive, and noticed some changes.. are these normal? the RPM used to be above 1k a bit upon starting the engine.. now it goes a bit below >.<.. am I just seeing things?

and now when I drive, I step on the gas, and I hear a sort of "wheezing" sound, but as soon as I let go of the gas, it stops.. is that normal? am I just hearing things?

ahem. please excuse my ignorance >.<;; loll

Basics . . heat robs power, that's wht they call the box a "Cold Air Intake" AKA: CAI
Reset your ECU, & do a Throttle position reset/relearn. Should be in DIY section.
Weezing is just the air getting sucked in, normal.

Remember to reset your ECU and this should go away. Your FX will need to lear how to work with your new Mod.

As for the Wheezing sound. It's normal. This is a result of the Throtle Body Spacer.

This is the mod that I told you is not as necessary to have. Some have found it to be beneficial and some just like the sound it makes.

Looking good though..

Mod on brother.

Ok, I printed out the instructions to resetting the ECU so hope this works.
as for the intake.. haha I feel a tad bit more power for now.. i think?
If I were to get an intake, how would the stillen intake work with the lms Z?

as for the spacer.. I don't think the wheezing sound is anywhere near worth getting imo.. my cousin has a blow-off valve on his wrx sti and it sounds like a remote knock off of that sound at best :frown:

If the ecu reset procedure fails just do it the old fashioned way and unplug the negative battery cable over night and it will be reset.

& if that fails, Nissan's diagnostic tool, 'consult' can reset it. If you're idle is off norm by +-200 rpm, it'll throw the Check Engine Light (CEL) but I'm jumping the gun on this. Just do the reset, & then we'll see where you're at.

My check engine light never came on,
so how do I know if my ECU is reset?
I've been following the ECU reset Technosquare method, and I can't tell if it worked or not..
maybe I should just follow the method Dr.2k mentioned above tonight to make sure?
and is it safe to drive around before resetting ECU?
Thanks :embarrassed:

Yes, it's safe.
Battery disconnect is easiest. You'll need a small 10mm wrench . . . maybe you can borrow one from Min
