Hello,
i just got my 11 fx35
I want to install my radar detector. I have an extra power cord that i used in my old car that basically just needs 12 volts from somewhere.

has anyone done this and did you get power from the mirror or run the power cord down the pillers?

thanks
Randy

thanks, i have the equipment, i am just unsure how to get into the mirror
The one article i found that had picts all the image links were broken

BTW pmanliu, what rims do you have? those are exactly what i am looking for. Any other picts of your car with the rims??

They are Axis Ordens - 20x10 + 25mm. I also have 25mm spacers installed to give it more of a flushed look

Here's my invisicord I made from old telephone wire. Red and green wires are the two that matter. One is in the 12V power hole, one is in the ground. Photo is taken from inside the windshield looking at the back of the mirror.

So i tried this today and was not succcessfull.
So what did you put on the end of your invisicord under the heatshrink?
I tried just soldering the ends of the wire but did not work

thanks
Randy

"Handy Andy", la_fx35 used old phone cords for our power cords too. He should chime in and clarify what you can do sometime soon.

 Pman, I also use the D-sub connectors like you pointed out above. I strip about half inch of the sheeting off each lead of the exposed telephone cord, crimpe a D-Sub connector onto each lead, slide a small heat shrink tube over the crimped section, heat it up to shrink it tight onto the D-sub connector and the telephone lead, then I use a bigger heat shrink tube over the two lead that was heat shrinked to give a clean professional look.

D-sub pins and heat shrink it is. Between the two, they hold everything together well. Just strip about 3/4 inch of the wire insulation to expose the copper, clamp the pins on, and shrink the heat shrink. I found it helped to slide the heat shrink on the wire first, rather than over the pin once attached. I have pics somewhere I can try to dig up.

Wow Andy, not only do you know how to do everything, you always have photos too....

Finally found the pics on my phone. Apparently I never uploaded them to post.
