HONG KONG – INFINITI has won the prestigious iF Design Award for the Q60 – a sports coupe that combines expressive design with exhilarating performance and dynamics.

The iF Design Award is one of the most important cross-industry product design prizes, with a jury made up of 58 independent design experts from around the world, representing a broad range of sectors. Submissions are judged on innovation, functionality and ergonomics, aesthetics and the sustainability of its production process and product attributes.

Awarded in iF Design's "Automobile" category, the Q60's powerful and bold design expresses a powerful elegance that is distinctively INFINITI. Complementing its design, the D-segment sports coupe's exhilarating performance is underpinned by its all-new 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine. Dynamic enhancements, including second-generation adaptive steering and an all-new digital suspension, result in a sports coupe that is designed and engineered to perform.

This is INFINITI's second iF Design Award in a row, following a "Professional Concept" product design award from iF for the Q80 Inspiration fastback sedan concept car in 2016.

The iF Design Awards is held annually by one of Germany's oldest design organizations, iF International Forum Design GmbH in Hannover. For the 2017 awards, the jury's independent design experts judged more than 5,500 entries, submitted from 59 countries around the world.

Having seen a few on the road now it looks really good in person. Based on pictures I was on the fence but in real life it all works.

Who would buy a manual? 6MTs were very rare in the G35/37 as they are in all cars these days. I like manuals but the Q60 isn't a sports car, it's more of a touring type car.

People that really enjoy control over their driving experience, that's who. The same tired 7AT that is in the FX/QX70 is not adequate as the only option. I am almost surprised that Infiniti/Nissan did not put a CVT in it. This is the Achilles heel for this vehicle, ask yourself how many have you seen on the road since it's release? I've lived in two cities thus far and have seen zero, granted winter is still here. Still, if you are building a car marketed for enthusiasts, give the enthusiasts what they want. All they did is make another expensive 'chick' car.

Everyone says they want a manual but how many actually buy them? It's a very low number (typically in the single digit percentages) across the board so what is the incentive for a manufacturer? Even for the 370Z which is a sports car, a great number of them are automatics. The Q60 is a 4,000 lb "sporty" car, it's not a sports car. Modern automatics perform pretty well. Most M cars and AMGs are automatics or DCT; I'd argue that the typical buyer for those is an enthusiast.

I'd consider myself an enthusiast and I don't own a manual car right now. I live in the city and having driven MT's around here it's awful in traffic. Nissan isn't dumb, they know the market. A handful of "enthusiasts" complaining about lack of MT doesn't dent their sales. FWIW, 'chicks' make up half the market so... And I've seen 3 here in the last 2 weeks (2 driven by men).
