The Infiniti EX is a perfectly good little CUV with G37-inspired looks and sharp reflexes that keep it near the front of the cute 'ute segment in most reviews. Apparently that hasn't been enough to attract buyers. Or more precisely, the buyers who have been showing up at Infiniti dealers haven't been the kind of people that the company was actually marketing to. Where the advertising for the EX up to this point has been directed towards sedan buyers, and particularly couples or single women, a lot of families are actually looking considering it and, like ourselves, are complaining about the lack of back seat legroom and cargo room. Infiniti has taken those complaints to heart and is planning a few changes for the 2010 model that will increase room in both of those areas, though it hasn't said exactly how it will squeeze the extra cubic inches out of the vehicle's finite amount of interior space. Additionally, Infiniti will work with its dealers to help better pitch the EX to prospective buyers. An example of that is making content like the family-friendly Around View Monitor available in more trim levels. Hopefully it will help boost EX sales beyond the expected 15,000 units for this year, though we wouldn't get our hopes up in this market.

I think the EX is a really nice car. It drives great and is surprisingly quick and fun to drive. My only concern, and it is one that is mentioned in the article, is that the rear leg room is abysmal. If I'm not mistaken the dimensions are under 30" I believe. There is literally no room back there. The cargo room wasn't too bad though considering the size of the vehicle.

My wife would have probably picked one up if it wasn't for the rear leg room issue. That was a deal breaker for her. She is going to get a 09 FX35 instead I think. Hopefully they can reconfigure the interior somehow to address the problem. My dealer (largest in IL) told me that the number one complaint from customers was the lack of back seat room and it was harming sales. They have over 40 EX's sat on their lot right now.

If they were to make the EX larger, then it would end up being the size of the FX, so there's basically no point. If the EX is Rogue based, then why doesn't it have the same amount of leg room?

It's not Rogue based. Rogue is a Sentra underneath EX is FMShip from the G

But still the G has alot more leg room than the EX. And I was just guessing that it was Rogue based because the EX came out right after

can anybody confirm this in the 2010 version of the EX?

my wife is looking for a new car and I'm trying to influence her into the EX.

big must is to have enough leg room to fit a baby seat in backwards. I have to push the passenger seat way up in my FX, so I can't see it being much better in the EX, but thought I'd ask anyways!

Thanks.

EX is less than an FX. Have you tried the center? I remember having to do it that way w/ my youngest

thanks for the reply.

we're probably going to go with the Murano for my wife in that case.

no, i've been meaning to test the baby seat in the middle seat but haven't had the chance to. Thus far, our Armada is the dedicated baby hauler.

I need my wife's car to fit a baby seat comfortably though when I'm not around (since she refuses to drive the Armada).
