Illuminated Front Door Scuff Plates - Upgrade to LED

Has anyone upgraded LEDs in your QX70's illuminated front door stainless steel scuff plates? If so, did you only have to remove, pop off the scuff plate - or do you have to remove the door sill to gain access to the bulb for a swap? I've purchased the (blue) LEDs - just need to know how to access the sill/scuff plate bulb. Thanks!

The illuminated kick plates should pop right off. I believe that may already be LED, though.
