As a new owner of a FX50S I'd love to hear the lessons you've learned when it comes to modifying your FX's.

- Mistakes you've made and money you shouldn't have spent
- Money well spent that you'd do again

GO!

Would do again:
aero kit front lip
full matching window tint
stainless steel radio/ac knobs
infiniti puddle lights
all around camera mod
Oem stainless gas, brake, and dead pedal replacement

Things I have sitting in my garage waiting to go on:
full aero kit
illuminated kick plates

Things currently shipping to me for modding:
GT-R wheels

Where did you get the stainless steel radio/ac knobs from? Same with the puddle lights, are these the ones with the circle around the logo or just the logo? Searched some old threads for these but the ebay links have since expired..

Mods I wouldn't do again:
Roof rack. This thing is noisy AF. I'm returning it despite how much I like the look.

The ones I bought were just the logo and Infiniti spelled out below it, all white. I don't see the same ones i bought online, but these are similar, but have red writing.

also, if I did it again, I would only do the front doors, not the back because the angle they open doesnt display the light correctly.

All the bolt ons on my 05 fx35 instead of saving up for forced induction was a big mistake that many people make, especially now when you can easily find used setups from g/z guys for the same price as the bolts ons...

Do the FX's come with a stainless dead pedal? Mine has gas and brake, but the dead pedal is a plastic cover embedded in the floor carpet. Very interested if there is an OEM dead pedal for the FX.

They don't come with one. I ordered one from a 370Z and replaced. Also got a few new washers for the underside that clip it in place. I'll try to find the part numbers when I get some free time tonight.

dead pedal is: Infiniti Footrest Assy | Infiniti Part Number 67840-1NF1A
washer clips are: Infiniti Plate-Carpet Front | Infiniti Part Number 74985-1NF0A

Install is pretty easy. You have to take off the driver's kick plate and plastic siding near the fuse box area. This allows you to fold back the carpet. The plastic plate that's there currently just has like 6 plastic pins that go through the carpet and are attached by these tiny washers. Easiest thing to do is clip off the pins above the washer, before the carpet and pull off the plastic plate. Before I tried the install, I bought the extra clip washers because I read on a forum somewhere that they are easy to bend/break. Just line up the new pins on the stainless plate through the carpet and replace the washers to hold it in place. Then just put it back together reverse of taking it apart. Took maybe 5-10 minutes tops.

Just found this install link for G37... pretty much the same thing.

GO!
Ceramic window tint on front windows, windshield, and moon roof. It really keeps the heat out! I was amazed! Put it on my wife's Tundra and the mother in laws Kia Shortage.
She said she could tell the difference too.
But, hey, TX is hot as hades most of the year. Wish I'd known about it on my black '03. Our windshields are huge.

The UV protection is probably good for the dash, too.

This is a great thread, especially for those just starting out and considering what they might want to do.

My would do again mods are:
Exterior Addons:
OEM Aero kit front and rear- visually a great addition
LED Projector fog lights with built in DRL- also worthwhile
LED switch back lights in turn signals.
Upgraded HID bulbs to Philips white vision gen 2 5000k- much improved night/rain driving.
1200 Lumen revers led lights- much improved lighting for the camera in reverse.
Infiniti Valve stem caps- a little overpriced, its a nice touch but only if you get really bored and are itching for a mod.

The tow hitch I installed for a bike transport, not the most appealing addition, but it does the job!

Interior Addons:
All weather floor mats- not the best feel, but easy to clean.
Aluminum Radio Buttons- would do again.
20% tint on sides- Gotta have in the south
70% tint on front- would probably not do this one again, I got ceramic tint and it scratches easily, have to be extra careful while cleaning and all dirt on the windshield is much more noticeable.
Changed cracked center console vinyl to leather- was definetely worth it!
Qx70s Paddle shifters- would do again!
Infiniti logo puddle lights- Awesome cheap mod
Escort 9500ix Radar
Amacam AM88 GPS Dashcam
Fortin Evo Nist1 Remote Starter Using Factory Keyfob
K&N Drop in Filters - its the perception of power ha, not really worth it.
Infiniti Logo inner door handle bowls- not really noticeable, but a nice touch.
All LED interior bulbs-def worth it!
Infiniti headrest pillows- our headrests down really lean forward like some of the newer cars, this makes it more comfortable to rest your head on.
Xjui Steering wheel leather wrap- adds a nicer thicker feel to the steering wheel!

*would not buy
- Beluga test pipes. O2 sensor attachment area literally fell off where it was welded. Instead of using the warranty, they claimed it was due to outside force. There was definitely a power gain but the smell is really bad.

*would buy again
-Invidia Gemini catback exhaust. Sound is good, and when paired with my resonated test pipes it sounds almost exotic. I've gotten many compliments about the sound.

-2015 GT-R premium package OEM wheels. Forged and made by RAYS and almost perfect offset.

-I have H&R springs laying around, haven't installed them since I'm used to not having to be careful about dips etc.
