I can lock the door but can't unlock....odd!!!

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum.. just picked up a Gray FX45..working through all the little upgrades and small problems with it.

The first problem I'm trying to tackle is one of the door locks. It's the rear passenger door... I can lock it using the ikey or controls from inside the car.... but it doesn't want to unlock. The lock\unlock knob on that door doesn't want to unlock but it'll lock. All the other doors are fine. Any ideas what I should be looking for?

I've searched for this already and found some people were quoted hundreds just to fix a lock. I'll probably try to fix it myself before bringing it to the dealer is it's an easy fix like replacing a part.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm borrowing a service manual from a friend tonight so I can see how hard the job would be... maybe a weekend job ... FX needs a wax anyways.
 
Is the child safety lock on the door not working as well? And welcome to iS!

I'm not sure if the safety lock is working. I did a visual check to see it is on... and it isn't.... I was able to unlock and open the door from the inside though.

From what everyone is saying... sounds like the actuator is failing.
 
Just FYI, see the quote symbol on the right corner of each post. It's for multi quote, & glad you found us. How did you find IS?

So far I've driven this car about 900 miles because I had to pick it up from Arizona to bring back to California.... ride is a bit harsh but I've already expected that... probably doesn't help that my FX came with 22inch rims 40 series tire. I wonder if it'll be hard to trade rims?

well if they are nice 22's i doubt anyone will have a problem trading.
 
welcome to is. your problem sounds exactly like mine before. actuator and labor cost me about $500 since i was pressed for time and did it with infiniti. nissan or local shops should be slightly less.

what wheels do you have?
