How to: Grill Removal and Paint?

Hey guys,

I'd like to remove my grill and paint it black like many of you guys have done before. Do any of you have instructions on how to remove the grill?

Any suggestions on what kind of paint and clearcoat to use? Do you take off the emblem before you paint?

Basically you just remove the air duct that sits above the coolant tank. To remove the air duct remove those four black plastic clips on the top then pull up. This gives you full access to the back of the grille to remove the 5 bolts and clip pawls. Be careful not to break any clips. Then gentley pull the grille out.

I let a body shop paint mine in KH3 black obsidian. I was thinking about doing it myself but it won't look clean and professional. I paid $100 to get it painted but average body shops will charge anywhere from $70-$100 to paint it.

Should I apply primer over both the wavy middle parts and the top/bottom chrome before I paint? do I need to sand the chrome so that the primer will stick better? Thanks!

IMO you definitely need to sand all the chrome out

some of us here on IS plasti-dip our grills and yes we remove the Infiniti emblem unless you wish to paint it as well.
