How Much To Mount and Balance 4 Tires?

Just picked up 4 Hankook RH06 Ventus 265/50r-20 for $660.00 with free shipping from Discount Tire Direct. What should I expect to pay to have a local shop mount and balance, valve stem and TPMS? Don't want to get stiffed.

Also, anyone have these tires? What are your thoughts?

I think I was charged $100. I did not get the TPMS installed however. I think it would have been the same price if I did though. I have those tires, as well as many other members, and they are great. I think the general consensus for the best tires to get is either these or the Parada Spec X.

I always figure $25 per tire, but every place is different and may or may not charge for sensors. If you will need any sensors replaced, now is the time to do it.
 
Derail: Do the TPMS have replaceable batteries, or does the entire sensor just get replaced?

If you have the Discount Tire store near you it should be free.
 
^ No way. I bought tires DTD and always have to pay for mounting and balance at local DT. Unless there is an option for you buy the installation from DTD?
 
I bought some tires from DT Online long time ago and they were installed for free. I guess they don't do that anymore(charge now is $16 per tire)
 
I pay $80+tax for four tires installed on rims and balanced in Ontario.
 
Costco = $14/tire + $1 tire removal. Must purchase tires there.
Walmart = $9.99/tire last time I checked.
Everyone else = $20-$50/tire, some totally rip you off for TPMS valve stems (not buying them, but just putting them in, some charge an extra $20 per tire).

I'd go to tirerack.com and find a recommended installer and look at their prices.

My dealership charges $30/tire.

So much for tirerack.com price pledge. I called 8 shops and only 2 of them accepted the prices listed on tirerack.com.

I'm glad I called Walmart to ask some questions -- the second I mentioned TPMS, they said "we don't do that kind of stuff." (On their website it says $20 for TPMS service for 4 wheels/tires).

Discount Tire is the clear winner if you have your own carry-in tires/wheels at $16/mount balance + other typical fees.

I want to save an hour drive and will go to my local Midas that did accept the tirerack price (it's their normal price anyway) at $11.25/mount balance per tire.
 
It all depends where you go and who you know, my friends dad owns a tire shop and he mounts and balances my tires for $40 :good:
