How much should a F&R differential change cost?

Hello everyone! I just purchased a 2011 FX35 AWD last week. I called my local Infiniti dealer, if you call 2 hours away "local", to check what services had been done on the vehicle per Infiniti. I was told pretty much that all it's had done since the beginning was oil and filter changes and the last was done in October '13. The BMW dealership where I purchased it did an oil change, but it's due a F&R differential fluid change. The service rep said it would be $650!!! That seems kind of steep...is it? Car has about 45K on the odo.

I'm coming from BMW & Lexus, to be honest I was shocked to learn these cars don't come with maintenance plans. Oh well, anyway, it is...what it is...

Thanks!

That's rape pricing. I had mine done by a good Nissan dealership and I provided the fluids for only $ 200 including oil change. Plus they did my automatic fluids.

I purchased synthetic performance fluids and the J-matic fluids as well.

Are you at all mechanically inclined?

I'd say DIY it. Fluids would cost you less than $100 even locally, that includes a pump to get the new fluid into the bell housing. It would take about 1-2 hours of time (including jacking up the car, and clean-up). Its a super simple job. Literally if you can do an oil change, you can do this.

As for the dealers price, it does seem kind of steep. Are you sure they are not including a transfer case fluid change, and transmission drain and fill as well?

EDIT: cruiser beat me to it. Phone them and find out why the price is so damn high.
