How can I do that sea foam for plenum??

I was at my local auto parts store last week and saw a new aerosol version of Seafoam that you spray directly into the throttle body... In that case you wouldn't need to remove the screw.

See the hose clamp directly below the blue plug? You can take off that hose and then suck in the Seafoam through the metal barb (or with another short hose attached to the barb temporarily). You can also do the exact same thing through the hose attached to your inlet, just before the throttle body.

thats not the place I had the seafoam sucked in....

Doesn't matter where it's sucked in, as long as you do it after the filter media & MAF sensor. Can be from any suction line going into the plenum. In fact, doing it a little from both sides would probably clean the plenum a bit better than just introducing Seafoam on one side.

that's what I figured

did anyone notice any difference after using SeaFoam, i used it twice no difference noted.

In regard to the intake and fuel system only; I've read tons of claims of Seafoam helping. Some of the things I heard are smoother idle, better mpg, quicker starts, and I've seen some pretty impressive pictures of its power as a cleaning agent. Of course you have to have some kind of buildup or issue in the first place...

Never heard of seafoam in the oil helping anything, though there are lots of claims of it causing problems.

Sorry to bring up an old thread...

I am a Ford guy through and through. I am a mechanic at heart, but physical therapy pays my mortgage! LOL I have been using Sea Foam on my Ford motors (about 12 of them) and all my small engines. I do plan to run seafoam on our new to us 04 FX 35.

My research, findings and practice with Seafoam in my trucks has been this... 1/2 can in the Throttle Body, 1/2 can in the crank case and one can in the gas. I scrub and clean and wipe down the TB first. Then run the 1/2 can seafoam though the vacuum line killing the engine at the 1/2 can mark and letting it sit for 10 min or so... While sitting i will put the other 1/2 in crank case and a full can in the gas.

Then I drive like mad and put on a cool white exhaust show from all the carbon burning off...

After 200-500 miles, change the motor oil. You do not want to thin your oil too long AND you want to remove the waste cleaned by seafoam...

Good luck, I will let y'all know how my first seafoam treatment works out when I am ready for the 1st oil change!

^ There is another tread on how to seafoam... You should check it out and I'm sure some of the members have already posted their experience.

Been reading through audizine and all the carbon buildup on the s5's... Got me thinking twice about buying one..

Sort of curious, would that help in a car with direct injection? I thought the problem w/ Audi's and Lexus' is that the injector sprays directly into the cylinder, not before the valves. Hence, the valves don't get cleaned by the gas passing through. That was how it was explaine to me when I had an IS350 and was reading up on potential problems. So if the cleaner is in the gasoline, it still wouldn't clean the valves. Seafoam should do it since it's being sucked into the manifold.

So far, did a 1/3rd can in my gas tank. Noticed a increase in MPG in the city right away (was averaging around 16, now 18!). I want to add the rest of the car to the fuel and then do the half can to the intake. I am leaving the crank case alone.

Alos, noticed quicker acceleration. WHen I first bought the FX35 in January, I was disappointed compared to my G35 Coupe and Sedan. The G's were stick which helps plus less weight but the FX was still disappointing. Now, I feel that it was just because things were clogged.

Don't you always feel better after cleaning yourself out ??? :tongue (2):
