High Mileage FX45

Hey Fellas! First time posting here!

Been doing some research and came across these boards. Looking to pay cash, but the budget puts me in the range of a '03 in the range of 125k-150k miles (would prefer the FX45).

I understand the VK45DE engine is bulletproof. Can I easily expect 300k-350k under proper care? Pretty sure an extended warranty is out of the question. Are maintenance/repairs pretty costly on these?

TIA

To my knowledge there is not an FX here that is over 150K

In my case I have an 04 and only have 96K on it.

Most FX45 owners are goon in keeping up with maintenance.

You can probably find one here in southern California for under 13K.

We don't know what your budget, yet the rule of thumb when buying a used car is not to get one with high miles.

nope. repairs not costly at all if you spend enough time learning to do the maintenance works yourself which is not too much to do/learn. but do ask and check for all the repair history. paperwork speaks volumes about the vehicle. keep looking for a lesser mileage FX. Good luck.

Both the VQ and the VK are solid power plants but if you can wait I would hold out for a lower mileage ride......

Thanks, guys! Lower mileage would be ideal. I haven't owned an Infiniti before. I wouldn't blink on buying a Lexus with high mileage, and wanted to see if could instill that same confidence in the FX.

Humberto - around $13k or below is what I plan to spend. Would I be able to find FX45s in that range in SoCal, or would it most likely be FX35s?

If you hold out and keep looking you should be able to find one with around 100K miles for around that. Some are obviously higher, some lower, depending on year model, demad, availability, gas prices, etc.

I have almost 80K miles and have had no issues, other than junk leather and some minor oil burning which is common to the VK45.

Thanks for the welcome, Everyone!

These are the lowest priced ones in SoCal:

Not sure if I want to take a chance on the salvaged one, but it does have low miles. The red one is already at 92k, but a bit out of my budget.

Just want to make sure I'm reading you guys correctly on this. Should I not put the Infiniti power plant in the same category as a Lexus, in terms of reliability and longevity?

It's reliable. It'll also hold up. There are some Q45s out there with 250K miles on the original motor. I also recall one being in the 400K mile range with redone heads.

Some people complain it burns some oil, it's just a VK45 thing. Mine does it. Not a lot. About 1/4 - 1/2 quart every 3000 miles.

i think the VK and VQ are great engines.. with the proper maintance it'll go forever.. good luck on your search bro..!

You can put put Infiniti & Lexus in the same category...I have owned Nissan & Toyota products & they both last forever as long as you keep the oil changed. I own a Maxima with 273k miles on it & it still runs good

I looked for mine for 2 months, I couldn't find what I wanted in LA, so finally found one in South Bay, flew up and drove it back, great way to get to know the car and enjoy the long ride. It had 89K on it when I picked it up, the car is in immaculate condition. Not sure what your budget is and if you found one already, but don't limit yourself only to craigslist/ebay, etc, look literally everywhere the cars are posted for sale and if you can travel you might find the one that will be the one.

Hello folks!
Would I be crazy to pass on a 2005 fx45 with 96k miles with just about everything at $18,000 (clean carfax):good:?
Or should I pass on the 03-06 fx 45 with 100k-150k miles with clean carfaxes:eek.: (from $7,000-12,000) ?
