Hey IS, well I just need your guys opinion on HFC's. I have a completely stock car aside from my intake, and wanted a little more sound from the back. Would a HFC make way to much noise with a stock exhaust system? Or should I maybe go a different route?

Did know where to post!
I have my Stillen exhaust installed almost a year ago and today I got my CNT Racing HFC(200 cell each) installed. They seem very loud to me, with very weird sound coming out of the exhaust and somewhere in the engine compartment) after 3K RPM. The guy reused the old gaskets, which are 9 years old:bulgy-eyes:(I don't know why, I asked them to install the new ones, anyway they are putting the new gaskets tomorrow).

Do you think if I will put the new gasket the sound will change and possible become quieter?

The first thing you should do is replace with new gaskets, that helps usually. One of my friends had this same problem on a Z and new gaskets helped. I have also seen that just the addition of HFC's on an certain aftermarket CBE's will cause rasp.

Thanks. Now I'm thinking going back to stock cats(not sure if the new gaskets will help). I don't really know what to do here(have an appointment tomorrow at 2pm to install the gaskets):at-wits-end:

The one that came with Stillen(X Pipe design)

Hmm.

I had Kinetix HFC's installed for a month or so during my marathon exhaust build and could never escape the rasp. The only thing I didn't change or remove trying to fix the issue were the headers and the Megan y-pipe. In the end, reinstalling the oem cats cured the rasp immediately.

The guy didn't put the new gaskets in(between the headers and x pipe). He reused the old ones. Do you think the new gaskets will quite the exhaust down a bit?

I have the Kinetix HFC's and the Megan Y-pipe, I do have some rasp but no hissing sound. Hoping when I get the rest of the Megan exhaust it cures some of the rasp. I don't think you can get rid of it all together.

That sounds horrible ! I got second thoughts bout HFCs. the only thing that can cometo my mind is your hfc as to little cells and since its a true dual exhaust there might not be enough back pressure

^^^Thanks everyone for your help. I removed them today, HFC's are too loud for me with the Stillen Dual exhaust:smile (2):

Thanks. I'm very happy with Stillen alone. CNT HFC sounded way different on other exhausts.
