Help with Suspension - What to Replace?

WOW this just helped me out a lot. THANK YOU ED!!!!
I was really excited to see those TRE prices - but figured something was wrong...LOL...sure enough - I think you meant $47.00 each - not $7.00:laugh:
I just ordered most everything on the list - except the rear spring buckets top/bottom and rear brackets and TRE's.

All of the bushings/bearings I snagged from Infinitipartswarehouse - which lets you directly copy-paste those part #'s - which is nice. Also offered free shipping if it fits in a 12"x12"x6" box. $119 to my door

The KYB struts I ordered from the on-line ebay place for $208 shipped to my door.

$310.00 in parts total. The local shop quoted me $1000.00 just for f/r strut replacement - which didn't include all new bushings.
I'm guessing this is one reason why we just picked this FX used for so cheap. Fine with me. :smile (2):

Ha yeah, $47, whoops -- can the mods fix this? There is no edit button.

Glad it helped. Your car's suspension should be good for another 100,000 miles!

Nice, I bought my KYB's on amazon.com.

I want to clarify that the upper and lower seats are not 100% necessary, but DO help. It's the same reasoning a runner changes out shoes every 3 months -- the rubber is still intact but the compression/rebound is diminished.

The rear upper brackets do have some rubber bushings in there that were spent, so I do have to recommend these. You can see in the coil overs this is replaced with the coil over pieces as they supply the bushings and you just "rebuild" it.

Okay, my car is getting old and more suspension parts need replacing.

Front sway bar links:
http://www.infinitipartsusa.com/par...050&callout=15&catalogid=1&displayCatalogid=0

Link, fx
03-07 $36.13 $27.10
Need two for the front.

Also, contemplating lower control arms again since there is a worn ball joint there after 100k miles.

I only had an intermittent "click" going over pot holes, but now it's every time which equates to bad ball joints in my scenario.

^ for the link make sure both the bolts are torqued to spec (75 lbs i believe).

After having a mechanic break off a nut stuck on the link where it connects to the strut, i told him to not tighten the bolt too tight since i was going to drive 5 miles then take apart the strut to put in new springs. Anyways that drive was just all ching chang and clattering from the suspension whenever i hit a hole. I got out and pulled on the link and it seemed tight, would not move around. Called mechanic and he said even if it feels tight by hand, give it one or two more turns on the nut and the sound will go away and he was right. Apparently even if the link is a tiny bit loose, the sound is extremely amplified and sounds like someone is punching your fender

so the mechanic can't get the bolt off -- he's still trying. Can't use heat because it's too close to the ABS sensor...

Ordered some more parts:
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php?carcode=1422852&parttype=10401

2003 INFINITI FX45 4.5L 4500cc V8 FI [VK45DE] DOHC BECK/ARNLEY1016142 (101-6142)Control Arm$ 146.79$ 0.001$ 146.79 BECK/ARNLEY1016143 (101-6143)Control Arm$ 146.79$ 0.001$ 146.79
And for the rear...

Items Ordered:
Item: Rear suspension, Stabilizer bar, Link, Link, fx, right
Price: $17.49
Tax: $0.00
Qty: 1
Total: $17.49

Item: Rear suspension, Stabilizer bar, Link, Link, fx, left
Price: $17.49
Tax: $0.00
Qty: 1
Total: $17.49

Taking a risk and ordering aftermarket front lower control arms. $200/each + $20/shipping each at infinitpartsusa.com vs $146.79/each + $10 shipping TOTAL. Big savings -- let's see if I come out ahead or worse since if I have to replace them again earlier, I lose out big due to labor costs.

Rear links, I sort of wanted Deeza due to their technology:
http://www.deezachassis.com/patented.asp

But so similar in cost to OEM, I said what the heck, stick with what I know works.

as a FYI, the sway bar links do NOT come with the nuts required. You need two for each link.

The OEM are lock nuts, with plastic inside and are typically rusted so you will want to replace these.

They are 60 cents each. I call infinitipartsusa.com but they said it was too late to change the order and it's $9.99 + $2 handling to ship them...

I'll drive to home depot to get them, but just a warning to order the nuts at the same time.

I probably would have went with Deeza instead if I knew this.
