I find it hard to believe that seafoam would cause the engine to self destruct. What you describe doesn't sound good but you don't know what it is until you open it up. If it still runs that's a good sign, indication localized damage and allowing for a "minor repair". Does it still start up? If so don't run it but have someone you TRUST pop the top and see what it looks like. Once you pull the head you'll most likely be into valves at a minimum as they are not re-usable, its also a given the head will need to be redone (possibly replaced) as well, but it might not be a complete loss or re-build. I don't know, I have seen enough s**t lately to not assume anything with regards to engine failure but again, you have to trust your mechanic and also do your homework.
