as the title says some how the center hvac/radio lcd screen has a scratch the size of montana in it. has anyone had this happen before? is what we see just a plastic cover or does the whole screen have to buffed out? and if it does have to be buffed dosent that turn the plastic from a matte finish to a shiny one? Please help...

I just put a screen protector on mine ( I had some scruff marks), and it did make a good improvement.

What kind of screen protector did you get? I've done some searches because of glare issues and the only screen protector i found claims it reduces glare, offers UV protection, keeps true colors...but the website is junk and there's no real info on amazon. The few reviews seem kind of mixed (for anti-glare for other rides). Is there something better than this out there or does it seem fine?

I bought my fx with a damaged screen , looks like someone tried to stab it with a screwdriver , it was destroyed - I went to a plastic shop , they said I should use a scratch proof clear plastic that I forget the name of - at any rate , they would have to order it in so I just boughta piece of lexan from them for $3 and cut it to size , popped the old one out and popped the new one in , problem solved.

i dont think you can repair the scratch. if you replace it with a new or used screen then i suggest putting a piece of clear film over the face of the unit. the same material they use for clear bra wraps. the film might be a little thick but maybe you can find a product thats a little thinner.

check out the site, they have all types of crap to buy so you can do it yourself

There's a product that I've used on cell phone screens and camera screens (not the lenses) that's been surprisingly good. It's an abrasive sold in a tube and you simply work it into the scratch. You can get them on any of the cell phone websites. Works great and a tube of an ounce or 2 will last you a lifetime. Very simple to use.

When I bought my car, the instrument cluster had some good size scratches in it. I brought it back to the dealer and they buffed them out. The finish on the cluster is perfectly transparent and you would never know it was scratched. See if your local dealer will help you out. GOOD LUCK!

This might help with some moderate scratches. Not sure how it would do with bad scratches...
