Help! Deciding between a FX35 and a Lex RX350

I recently had my Lexus GS400 totaled and have been shopping for a new vehicle. I have decided on a SUV/Crossover and at the suggestion of a salesperson I test drove the FX35 and was pleasantly suprised by the ride and feel of the car; however, being a former Lexus owner I am famililar and comfortable with the reliability of the Lexus brand vehicles. I would like to get some feedback from owners of the FX35 (probably looking at an 07) for reliability, common problems, most likes about the vehicle, etc.?? Thanks for any input that will help in my decision! :tup: or :tdown: ???

You will be much happier with the FX. It has the function of a cross over but also has power and looks. RX350's are way too boring.

The FX is very reliable also. Just keep up on the maintenance and you will be fine. I have 82,000 + miles and no major issues whatsoever.

We test drove the RX and it is a nice ride but it just did not compare to the sportiness of the FX. After driving the RX we found it kind of mundane. I do like Lexus quality but we went with the FX35. This is our 3rd Infiniti.

Of course depending on the tires you put on, how is the FX in the snow?

I agree, the Lexus was a boring ride - just not much to it. Didn't feel the road and the acceleration was mediocre.

I would suggest a AWD version with good snow tires if you live in heavy snow climate and you will be very happy with the ride.

Comes with RWD and AWD options, with a snow setting. Members in Canada don't report issues.

Asking to compare the RX and the FX here is funny - you are ONLY going to get pro-FX answers! IMO - it's SO much better than the RX. Let's put it this way - I love the FX. My mom loves her RX.

I passed 100,000 miles this month and have had no repairs other than standard maintenance and my mods.

Check the reports-not many issues at all with FX's in general, one of the big reasons I bought an FX. My car previous to the FX was also a GS400 ;) some of the SMALL fit and finish details you might notice but they don't reflect on durability or reliability and overall its hands down much more unique than the RX soccer mom mobile.

When it came down to the bigger family ride it was between the MDX and the RX, we went with the 08' MDX but my girls love riding in the FX........

This is my third Infiniti with the same AWD system and I was amazed how well it worked in my last two (of course I always run winter tires where I live).
I just got my FX35 this summer and I expect it to be just as amazing in the snow as my last two Infinitis.

ive driven a rx330 extensively and compared to the FX, and like others have said, it is very boring.

If you tried cornering at a high speed in the rx, you feel like your going to flip and also the very very light steering (almost like a minivan) was a big turn off for me. the fx, overall imo was just a much more solid vehicle.

Welcome to iS! I will make a flow chart for you:

Sex:
If male--> buy FX
If female--> buy RX

I love my 05 fx35. I live in Denver and it's my ski-mobile. No problems at all in the snow, and it gets around just as good (if not better) than my old jeeps (cherokee and grand cherokee). Just make sure you've got an awd model and good tires.

Regarding reliability... I purchased my vehicle after driving my mothers over a couple of years. Her '03 has about 70k+ and the only problem she's had was one of the side mirrors whistling at high speed, which was quickly fixed by the dealer. My 05 has not had a single problem (not even to 30k miles yet... hehe).

I cant compare rx with fx. There is huge difference. Fx will smoke the any RXs out there easily, also fx35 is more realiable than RX. Check the rear bumbers on both, you will see dual exhaust on fx and nicely tuned sound of exhaust. I dont know it been a 4 years now and i still like my fx, everyday i like it more ..

Oh and BTW Mr. Flowchart - I am female...so much for the flow...maybe a revised one would work:
Male - FX
Famale - RX
No the typical Female - FX :)

STU=MR. Flow chart...Hah! at least you got a Mr. out of it! Welcome to the Forum for reals Ms. Appolonmimi, NOT the typical female.......:)

Congrats on your FX Ms. Apollonmimi. So since your not a typical female, are you goign to mod your FX? What color did you get?

Congratulations apollonmimi.
