Going Rate for Wheel Bearing Replacement?

Had slight hum from front at hwy speeds. Turns out right front wheel bearing is starting to go.

Dealer quoted $1,630 to replace hub assembly. Does this seem reasonable?

Under timing pressure so having it done there. But for future reference, checking to see how reasonable this is.

Was expecting from looking at Repairpal and elsewhere more in the $600 to $800 range. Been going to this dealer for years and love their service but just seems awfully high.

The OEM parts are $225 per side and with the right tools I would say about 2-3 hours to do it all, so yeah they are really overcharging. The Repairpal quote is accurate!

Bearings aren't that expensive. Just make sure to go with OEM and you'll be set. If the front right is going, it'll be a matter of time until the other side goes as well. For me, one side was louder than the other and after I replaced one I could hear the other one and had to order and get it replaced as well. Bearings start to get loud around the same time regardless so it might be worth while doing both and moving on. While they're in there, make sure they throw some moly between the axle and new bearing to avoid that dreaded "click" sound.
