Getting my grill painted, have question

I called a guy today and got a price to get my headlight and tail lights tinted and also my grill painted. He said usually after you paint a chrome grill it will peel after awhile. I didn't think to ask while on the phone but should it be sanded and primed first?

Well I have not painted my grille. But from what other members have said is that they sand and primer and then paint. Also some members use the "plastidip" that you can buy at Home Depot.

I've used plastidip before for another project and it didn't hold up well. For those who have used it, how is it holding up?

I've done mine before and I sanded and primed it and it held up great, except for chip marks by rocks and such. I remember Jeff saying he used plastic paint and it worked well on his grill, but of course he did a emblemless grill as well. Correct me if I'm wrong Jeff...
