Gas gauge not working

Two days ago I started up my FX and the gas gauge didn't move from its off position and I immediately got a gas warning light for low fuel level. I know for a fact there's half a tank in there. Drove a few different places the past two days and it remains the same after several restarts. Anyone have any ideas, or know if this may be a common issue, easy fix? Thanks!
 
Thanks Rip. I searched threads but didnt find this one. Forgive my ignorance, but I didnt see a clea answer on if this problem is covered or not. I have an '11 with 47,000 on it. Does the dealer cover these TSBs at no charge, or do they charge? I have been thinking about getting an Elite extended before I hit 48 anyway. Thanks again.
 
From what I know, TSB's are covered if you have warranty but out of warranty they are not. I could be wrong so hopefully someone can confirm this?
 
My gas gauge seemingly failed after parking on an incline. Fortunately, I was under warranty and the dealer fixed it at no cost. Did not know about the TSB on this.
