FX50 Wheels-Tires-Springs questions

Greetings. I still have my FX45 but recently purchased an FX50. I've eyed them and appreciate some of the upgrades. These seem to get driven a lot and it is rare to see one without tons of miles.

1- The OE spec Bridgestones are "okey" but noisy and don't help the stiff ride. On my 45 I replaced the stock spec tires with a more modern high performance street tire. I was surprised at the improvement in ride and noise level- with a huge increase in performance. I'm noticing many of you change to a 295/40/21. I've been researching and noticed there are a lot of performance N spec tires for Porsche applications, however they are generally 295/35/21. Has anyone tried this size? I know it's shorter OD but the considering these greatly increases choices. Opinions?

2- I note a lot of you choose the GTR 20" wheels over the Factory 21". What advantage do you get with these?

3- Last for now- I settled for one without the Sport package and have regular springs. Those that have gone to lowering springs- how is the ride quality? With the 45 I was surprised that many notice a significant improvement in ride quality without a loss in handling qualities. I'm still getting used to the 50 but it seems to sit noticeably higher than the 45 and wonder. I've got other cars that I use for enjoying performance driving so I don't feel a particular need to modify what's already a fairly rare performance SUV unless I'm going to get a genuine improvement. Your comments appreciated.

BTW, when I got the 45 it seemed quite "styled" compared to most of the SUVs out there. Over the years it seems more sedate as other SUVs seem to attempt to look really "tough" and like they are inspired to be like big rigs! It's left the 45 seeming a touch conservative yet the styling, if anything, looks even better to my eyes. In fact since the 50 joined the fleet my neighbor has been eyeying my 45 and asked if I am interested in selling. It's a bit nuts keeping both but I still enjoy the 45. I've been wondering if a good 45 might break into being a collector vehicle. That, and I'm glad I got one over a Cayenne GTS.

I cant comment much on the other questions you have, as I've only had our FX50 for like 2 weeks. BUT i can comment on the wheels and why I chose them.

1. Theyre forged and lightweight, which means less unsprung mass...I think factory 21" wheels are about 35lbs
2. Theyre made by RAYS Engineering
3. I like OEM+ upgrades
4. Theyre reasonably priced out in the open market as opposed to getting a brand new set of RAYS or other forged wheels
5. Theyre hubcentric, no rings needed!
6. Did I mentioned theyre forged?

Some will say the 20" looks too small on a FX without a drop, but hey ill take the tradeoff for function over form.

If you do end up switching rims, would you consider selling your oem 21 enkeis? In nor cal area(Monterey)too and looking for a set.
