Not much of a DIY. Simply unbolt everything that is in the way to get to the cover and replace it :smile (2):

I've just passed 100k miles on my 45, getting ready to change spark plugs. Is this something I should be cautious of? How did you know you had leaky valve cover? Oil on the spark plugs?

Not sure if I've asked you before, but for the wells with oil.. did you/did you not clean it prior to removing the spark plug or even clean it at all before you installed your new valve covers?

I didn't soak any oil from the hole. I just remove the plugs as it is. I figure the little oil will just burn off. I rather not have any debris falls into the chamber. I did stick a piece of rag into the hole after I had the valve cover off before installing the new valve cover.

Without the valve cover its much easier to see what you are doing. I make sure that the rag is one piece so that there is no chance anything will fall in. The spark plug is not installed when I'm cleaning the hole. There really no reason for cleaning the oil in the hole other then keeping it oil free.
