There are a lot of info on this and there was one I replied just this week. Do a search (search for aftermarket exhaust or g35 extension) and you'll see it. Shortly though, for a 350Z/G35 exhaust to fit:
- Tips needs to be extended
- Mid pipe(s) needs to be extended (search for g35 extension here)
- if you're AWD, y-pipe won't fit. The only aftermarket one right now is Kakumei

Both HKS (Legamax) and Stillen have aftermarket exhausts that will bolt on without any issues

if you get a G35 exhaust (coupe) then need to extend the tips.

if you get 350z exhaust then you need the G35 extension piece and tips extended.

Exhaust Tips

Hi guys,

Our oem muffler already has great sound/performance, is it possible to just remove and replace the tips with something like the Borla exhaust tips?

Or are the muffler tips on our FX welded on the muffler pipes??

They're welded. The change in sound with bigger tips won't be that much different though.. Changing the muffler will change the sound more than that.. IMO, changing just the tips will be a waste of money..
