FX35 AWD Steering Pulling to the left

Hi folks, I just picked up a certified pre-owned 08 FX35 this past Monday with 15.5k miles on the clock. The car looks and smells brand new. However, the issue that I'm currently experiencing is that at times (not all the time) I notice the car tends to pull to the left when driving on the highway and local roads that I would consider pretty even. I never experienced this in my other cars driving on the same roads. I'm wondering if the 20" wheels/tires are causing this "pull?"

The other issue that happens on and off is that when I apply the brake when coming to a complete stop the steering wheel will steer itself to the left if I'm not holding onto the steering wheel tight. Again, this doesn't happen all the time.

The tread on the tires are at 6/32" in the front and 4/32" in the rear according to the dealer. I'm really surprised that the tires are down to this tread level at only 15k miles.

Ouch 4/32 is not good good. I'd get some new tires pretty soon if I were you. After replacing the tires, I'd have them perform a 4 wheel alignment because that's what the problem sounds like with it pulling like that. You should be able to take your hands off the steering and it goes straight. 15K miles is actually pretty good for OEM tires. Everyone knows OEM tires are garbage. If I were you I'd get some new tires.
 
Wow the expected life of the OEM tires are only 15k? That's pretty piss poor for a "luxury" vehicle. Tssk tssk Infiniti!

Do you also think that the "pull" that is happening when braking is also due to the low tire tread or do you think it's due to something else like actual brake component failure? I purchased the Certified Infiniti WRAP warranty which covers this car bump to bumper until 2015 or 100k miles so i should be able to get stuff like this fixed under warranty.

The pull they will fix, but the tires probably not. They will consider that wear and tear. I know it's a luxury vehicle, but most cars I've had the OEM tires were crappy. Plus Infiniti is not the one making the tires ;). And if the alignment is that bad, it sounds like the previous owner was driving through potholes and jumping curbs a lot.

It's piss poor because the alignment was off i ran my OEM for 40k I believe. I would've ran it more but my alignment was off. Definitely check Alignment
 
do yourself a favor go to professional tire/ suspension shops in your area, let them discover the problem first then head to the dealer and no this is not from the tires. I had the exact same problem, my motor mounts were busted and right control arm/link. Also could be from your rotors it might be damaged/warped and etc.

It seems that everyone believes the alignment is off, I will take it back to the dealer and insist they do an alignment because I told them about this pulling issue when I first test drove the car. I told them that I wanted that pulling issue fixed when I picked up the car on Monday. When asking them about it, they said all it was, was improper tire inflation which I'm calling BS on.

So I had a tech drive the FX around with me and it was exhibiting the same symptoms when he drove the car which was good. But, it turns out that the 20s along with the crappy roads here in the Boston area was the real issue. I guess the 20s like to follow the tracks and grooves on our rough roads. At times it will drive straight on, but as soon as it hits any imperfection it will start to pull one way or another. We even hit the highway and the tech showed me that if I were in the left most lane (which is where I tend to drive in my commute) the car will pull to the left due to the "crown" in the road and then we shifted over to the right most lane the car started pulling to the right. Once we moved into the middle lane and the roads were smooth the FX drove straight on. I guess I just need to live with how the FX drives and get use to it. I plan on getting rid of the Good Years for the Hancook Ventus in about 5k. I've read good things about them and I'm hoping it will be a bit more comfy than the GYs. Thanks for the advice everyone, I consider this issue closed!
 
The symptoms you described are normal for the fx as every new owner has described them in the past, but most of us here thought you had more severe symptoms of this, hence the advice to get an alignment. You have to remember the fx is not a lexus or cadillac with soft suspension, it is more sport tuned suspension to feel the road you are driving on. In any case, glad it all worked out for you.
