Front Akebono Brakes Installed Still Shuddering When Braking

Definitely try bedding the pad & rotor, but first check all the mounting bolts and be sure nothing looks bent. Are the brake pads worn evenly on both sides of the rotor or are they wedge shaped (tapered) or is one thicker than the other? Is the caliper centered over the rotor? Are the brake pads overhanging or under-hanging the rotor face?

StopTech recommends changing rotors and pads at the same time to avoid brake judder. They also suggest there is no such thing as a warped rotor - it's really an uneven layer of brake pad material being deposited on the face of the rotor. This is what bedding accomplishes - an even transfer layer of brake pad material on the face of the rotor. If that layer is uneven, this is what causes judder and it will continue to get worse because the high spots continue to hit the brake pads and get even higher. This is also why turning a rotor works - it removes the brake pad deposits.

Have the suspension bushings checked in the control arms and in your shock assemblies. Consider a new set of street pads and then bedding. Bed/burnish your brakes and if that doesn't work there must be something else going on because this definitely sounds like something a real burnish should correct.
