Sorry guys I know there are many threads about fog lights on here. I spent the last hour looking for the info I need and couldn't find it. I have the AFS headlights which are the HID if I am not mistaken... First car I have ever owned with them and they are phenomenal!! Like I don't know if I could ever go back.. anyway, I am not pleased with the fog lights. Is there any bulb replacement you guys might know of to give a crisper white or even a slight hint of blue? Without changing to LED? I will probably flood the forums for a week until I can figure out everything I want to do, so I hope I don't bother anyone too much :)

You can get a 4300k or 5000k hid kit that will match with your headlight HID's and will be a lot brighter than the stock bulbs. 4300k is what your stock HID headlights are but if you want a lil more blue you can get the 5000k. Most ppl on this forum use the morimoto hid kit sold on this website.

Morimoto elite hid system found on the link above

There's like 10 kits on that page, which kit are you specifically recommending? Which part number for the FX50 (which I assume is the same for the 37)? Thanks.

Thanks I just figured it out myself as well ;D I didn't realize there part numbers were the normal part numbers for bulbs. Thanks for helping!

Ok to add one last question, probably already asked a few times ;) Anyone have long term experience with the 55w vs 35w bulbs? Really the question is has there been enough time/use of 55s in our FXs to show they are safe and will not burn the housing or are 35s the safe/proper way to go?

Thanks!

Don't need to go HID to get the same color - just find bulbs that are around 5500-6000k (pure white to slight hint of blue) and change them out to "match"

If you do want the brighter light, you can go HID but I began to advocate against them because the foglight housings aren't built for HID and you just scatter light all over the road. Although they give huge output and light up the road, you blind a lot of other drivers both in front of and coming at you. There are ways around this (shielding) but tbh I got sick of the HID "look" and get bothered when people with HIDs in Halogen housings are across/behind me and hit me with glare.

If you don't care and just want the bright lights, then go for it. lol

jbaker, do you think stock it an handle higher rated bulbs? I think they are 3000k now correct? Please excuse my ignorance!!

The number in K is the color temperature, I don't think it directly affects the temperature or energy usage of the bulb, just the reading you would get if you used a light meter on it. If the bulb has a W (watt) rating, I would compare that to the stock bulb.

Just get 35W. Not worth it to get 55W even if the risk of something happening is minimal.

Also HID's in the fog light housings do not blind oncoming drivers, I stand in front of my car and they are not at all bothersome. There are countless members on these boards who use them.

The people who cram HID's into halogen hosuing headlights which project off the high beam portion of their lenses are the ones causing problems, your fog light lenses are not going to be bothersome to anyone.

The stock bulbs are more of a 4000K light output.

3000K is a distinct yellow colour. It is the standard "JDM" colour for fog lights.
