FOG LIGHTS WITH PARKING LIGHTS

I have a 2017 QX70 S and would love to be able to use my fogs independently from the head lights.
I was told by my mechanic that the system on this car is very different from my 07' FX. And he doesn't recommend it. I hope someone has a safe way of doing this safely.

They are independent. The main light functions that the fogs have their own knobs on the stalk. Turn each one to which ever position you want.
 
I want to be able to put on the fogs with out the headlights. You cannot do this on the QX70
 
I have a 2014 Qx70 (its a canadian model), the fog lights function as Daylight Running Lights (DRL) so they are always on by default even when the headlights are off during the day. The only way I can turn them off is if I turn the headlights on. Looks like in canada there's a law where you have to have DRLs on at all times.

Back to your question though, I used to have a BMW and I could not turn on the fog lights without the headlights, so its the same as your current setup then.
 
on canadian FX this comes stock. In US you need to have parking lamps or headlights on to have fogs on. you can just wire the fog lights to ignition/power, with a separate switch to circumvent this. That is what I did.

I think this plug and play kit should work on our QX70!
 
Or, you can cover the eye on the dash with a little piece of black electric tape, then just leave it set to auto. Lights always see darkness so headlights become DTRLS.:D
