Fog light Mod

I have been trying to find a way to make the fog lights come on independently. I know it can be done with a kp module (That I don't want to buy. I have a lot of history with rewiring things). I feel this can be done, I would just have to locate the wires and use an aftermarket relay to make them work independently. I just don't know where the wires are located. I tore my steering column and dash apart hoping that things resembled the 03-04 m45s. No luck. Anyone know how to do this?
 
Ive known people to take their parking lights that are in your headlight... The little buld in the high beams and use that wire to run fogs. You just cut the parking light connection off splice in an extention to the fogs or splice directly into to the existing +/- of the fog light. I wouldn't advise this but who knows

My understanding is with the link above you can control the fog lights with the switch on the stack.

If you want them just to turn on with the parking light you would need a negative trigger from any parking light to turn on the fogs. I was told they turn on with negative.

I thought the only way to do this on the Y50 was the KP technologies module (which is $40 or something - not sure why you wouldn't just buy it...not like it's $300)? The reason being that the IPDM (which is SUPER SENSITIVE) controls most of the car. This is coming from a tech who works on Infiniti's in a thread on another forum a long time ago.

Yea the price isn't an issue, I just like using what's already available. If It can't be done without the KP tech, then it's not a big issue. If it's an issue that deals with the IPDM then I won't touch it.
 
Yeah, I'm pretty sure a direct fog light rewire on the Y50 wasn't possible due to the IPDM...but I guess someone figured it out?

Freddie, have you done the mod using the tutorial above (which was for the original M)? If that worked, I guess I just learned something new lol.
 
No I haven't done it to my car but have seen it done.

All your doing is by-passing the headlights. No way of burning out the IPDM.

All you need is a fuse, relay & wire. Cost would be under $10.

It's one of my future mods when the weather gets much warmer.

I have al these things available right now lol. I just need to know where the wires are located and I can figure it out. I can here something that sounds like a relay click under the dash on the pass side. If I can find it, I will be able to run all the wires and the relay, and make a HowTo on this.
