Figuring out some Ipod/Sat semantics

Hey Gang,

I've gone through many posts and read the well written USA-Spec write up.

What I'm trying to figure out, is what I will need for my particular audio setup.

I have an 07 FX with a non-nav and non-sat unit.
There is no Sat button.

I'd like to install both the Sat module and the USA Spec.

Is it possible to install both? It's been a bit confusing reading through many peoples audio variations... but I'm afraid that I can only do one or the other. That is, does the USA-Spec plug into the Sat plug behind the radio?

So that's my first question... can I do both?

Second,
I've read that even though I don't have a Sat button, the radio is likely Sat ready.
And, that often the cables are already run from the radio to the back of the car, just an open plug in the back.

Is that true?
and if so, where can I look to see if I have an open plug for a Sat module in the back?

I may not be accurate in the semantics of those questions... but I admit, it's been confusing to this rookie.

Considering there are no restrictions on the website regarding which radio you must have (Nav, SAT, basic) or which buttons your radio needs, I would say the USA-spec works independently of the SAT module.

I believe your right regarding the USA-Spec being compatible with any radio version.

What I'm not wrapping my head around are the semantics to how I hook it up with my radio... when I'm looking to add the USA-Spec and the Nissan SAT module.

I think the first step, to figuring this out is understanding what module plugs into where.

First... I'm curious if my car is pre-wired for Sat.
Meaning, is there an open plug somewhere in my car (that's not behind the radio), to add the fin antenna to (car doesn't have the fin antenna).

Then, for the USA-Spec... I suspect I'd then order the version that says WITH Sat.. because that may come with a double plug harness...

I'm really just guessing here.
I think my first concern is figuring out the SAT readiness of my car.....

Anyone have advice on how to figure that out?
Hopefully not pulling out the radio to see, but ready to do so if that's the way.

I will check out my installation instructions this weekend and see what the details are for a non-sat Radio installation would be. Stay tuned....unless someone else gets the answer more quickly.

I think I'm good with that part.
Overall I want to add both Sat and the USA Spec.

So I'm thinking I get the Sat in there first, then follow the install for the with/sat version.

I'm hoping to find out some of the Sat pre-wire secrets to my FX.
I'm hoping I just need to plug in the Nissan Sat module into the head unit, and the interior of the car already has a sat fin antenna wire run, and there's a plug somewhere to plug the antenna into (not a fan of running wires through the interior... I always get too nervous about not putting it back together cleanly ;>)
