I don't know if this is normal or not but I took it to the dealer and they assured me that this sound is normal, I just have a hard time believing that,
anyways I recorded it and wanted to see if anyone else has this same sound.
To me it sounds like the thermal expansion of the cats but I can't really tell for sure.
Looking for some other opinions.
Thanks.

Had the same issue:

Read the last couple of pages. Its not the catlytic converter or muffler. Its the Y pipe heat shields making the noise and its not normal. My dealer installed exhaust clamps to rid of the noise.

They become loose and rattle its not normal because the new FX on the lot do not make this noise.

Its also a very common issue on the 2nd gen. It should only make crackling noises after the car is shut off and cooling down but if its doing it while idling its a problem

Edit nevermind yours does it while the car is off so its normal

Interesting that this is so common... It doesn't do it while I'm driving just at shut off and I had a suspicion that it was the Y pipe.
Thanks for the link I read through all the posts and sounds like mine is fairly "normal" since its only when i shut it off, but I'll keep my ears on it now that i notice it more.

It's normal.. even my FX and '02 Toyota Sequoia do it.
