engine swap

found a 4.5L v8 for sale with low miles on it. i rather have the v8 than the v6. i have a 2004 fx35(RWD) and i was wondering if you could swap in the fx45 motor from a 2004! and tranny fitment problems or something?? anyone done something like this??

Probably would be cheaper to just trade for a 45 if you aren't too attached to YOUR specific FX. Or if you want the V8 with RWD. I know I've seen one put in a G, so it can be done. Then again, anything can be done if you have enough $$$$.

Fit will be fine. New motor mounts required, new ECU, possible issues between ECU and TCU, ECU for the 4.5 will want to see a TCU for AWD which you won't have so that might cause problems. Coolant lines will be different, radiator fans are different (not sure if the 3.5 radiator fan will do the job).

Edit: oh and is this coming with a wiring harness? The complete motor with alternator, AC compressor, oil pump, etc (all accessories)?

45 & 35 use different bell housings & the block mounting is different... would probably be way more of a pain than it's worth, although it'd be the first 45 rwd too... at that point why restrict to the 4.5? better to go with a 5.6 titan motor since you'd be doing all the custom work anyway...

But I wouldn't spend the time swapping a VQ35DE for the VK45DE. If I had a VQ, I'd rather build it out.

I own a VK45, and I'd rather have the VK56.

Heck, throw in a Vette LS crate engine! I was thinking about all the things you could do to the Chevy Trailblazer SS -- so much aftermarket support for that engine.

I cant even imagine how much fun the torque on the 5.6 would be. I would swap the 5.6 if I blew my motor also haha
