Hi guys,

Just wonder, i just bought my 2005 fx35 with around 75000 miles on it, the engine light was on today, and i asked the mechanic from Infiniti, they said there is something wrong with the car, and they said it might be sensors, but they dont actually know.
I had problems with my tires which has around 20% trend and i just changed it. Can it be the old tires caused the steering angle sensor failure? The VDC light, Slip light and AWD light was on together with the engine light before, but those 3 lights came off when i started my car an hour later. But the engine light is still on, Anything that u guys can suggest what can be the problem with the mileage and age on the car? because i dont want to spend money to get diagnostic from the dealership.

Thanks bunch

Hi there richard
You can try this.
Turn on your ignition dont start the car.
Turn off your radio press/hold menuknob on radio and turn the volume knob several times 20-30x.You will see a vehicle diagnostic menu with error codes.maybe you can find what is wrong.
If you want to know what the code means you can search infinitihelp.com for these codes or enginecodes.com

I'm not sure if this is going to help you but I had a mercedes Sl550 and the engine light would always be on, but one day a mechanic that used to work in mercedes recommended me to put some Keropur (gas additive) after filling up your tank and in a hour or 2 i turned on the car and it went off..

The gas additive was for mercedes especially so im guessing infiniti has one or you can go buy another branded name..

Not sure about the MB engine light, but that seems a bit a magic :smile (2): to me if by addition fuel additive would turn off the CEL. I can only guess, the CEL comes on for that reason? Seriously, you need to know what is the trouble code and start trouble shooting from there. Maybe the MB guys know about the code and its normal in the MB engine! From experience with working on my FXes and a couple others members around me, I have not found that similar fuel additive to turn off an CEL! I will surely post up and share eith everyone if I ever come across one! :rotfl:

I didn't know you could get diagnostic codes on the nav, will have to try that out.

I know autozone used to scan for free, but at least in California they changed the law so they're not allowed to anymore.

I have the torque app http://torque-bhp.com/wiki/Main_Page and the kiwi bluetooth adapter $99
there are cheap adapters you can get off ebay http://torque-bhp.com/wiki/Bluetooth_Adapters

It has a lot of cool features you can use with a smartphone as well.
