Hi everyone, I got the h&r springs and new struts installed this weekend, and it got this loud knocking noise coming from the engine. Everything was fine when I installed the passenger side and moved the car on Saturday. (no knock as I back the car into the parking spot). And I put the driver side on yesterday(didnt start the car until today).

So when I started the engine just now and it sounded really rough at startup. I shut off the engine and started again, it wasn't as bad but still loud. I was suspecting the engine oil level might be low so I added some oil. It seems to lessen the noise by a little but it is still there. The knock gets louder as I rev the engine.

I didn't touch any electrical component during the installation. The only possibility I could think of is that the steering column shaft that connects to the brakes. I kinda dropped the front brake unit down by accident( wasn't on the ground) and I kinda wiggled it a little before I held it back in place. Other than this, I have no clue what could cause the Knock.. on the cluster theres no indication of oil level being low, just the ABS, VDC, AWD and SLIP as we can see in the picture below. I have attached a short clip of the knock for a better understanding of what I am trying to explain. Any insight/advice is really appreciated! Thank you for your time

Can't say for sure but hopefully its not an internal problem. As you stated to me since it gets louder as you accelerate I hope it's not the pistons

the lights that you see if for your brakes, maybe reservoir being low. Your talking about your steering knuckle that you dropped, the only thing you would hurt is your lower control arm ball joint. Suspension sound and engine sound have nothing to do with it, unless you have a busted motor mount and everytime you hit the gas hard you would hear a knock then yes

i just noticed you have the awd light onto, so this is not brake related.

THanks you for the inputs. Its getting dark right now I will get the brake fluid and other things checked out tomorrow after work.

I was talking to my mechanic friend and he mentioned about the abs cable that connects to the brake got messed up during install and also might be the belts. But Im totally confused as all these things that i did or happened really have nothing to do with the knock. Ill have him come over wednesday to take a look hopefully something will be solved.. I'll keep you guys updated, and any advice will be appreciated! Thanks

also check you radiator fan maybe something might be stuck on it and making that sound, happened to me last week

Any update? Mine started developing some knocking noise. Not as loud as this but its follow the rpm and knocks faster as the rpm goes up and i can hear it after 2 nd gear probably cuz of wind and the road noise

Cars runs the same though oil is fine at High no leaks
