has anyone had the rev matching downshifts be so hard the abs kicks in on dry pavement? its happened 2 or 3 times and on well traveled roads- first time I wrote it off as sand on the road. Im a little surprised how hard it shifts and have to wonder how it might affect trans life, seems like a 4-3 or 3-2 shift.

Yeah depending how much you press the pedal down it will make pretty drastic downshifts, 2 gears for example. Just need to get used to the was the DS works , plus it 'remembers' your driving style and if you're always looking to go fast it will make it easier for you to do so. The v8 has pretty nice low end tq and will chirp tires all day even as an AWD car.

Do you mean the VDC / traction control kicking in btw?

If you want to try and make it less aggressive try resetting the ECU (look it up on this forum it's easily done with the pedal) and driving like an old person for a while while it relearns... however it will not drive the same after that unless you reset the ECU again.

Mine always searches for a high gear in DS or D but if I put my foot down it will downshift and give me power when I want it, though I normally drive with the paddle shifters...

Yes, whole car shook up and lights on dash went on. Thought I was done for, but all went back to normal

Thanks JB.

I never thought about a double downshift, certainly make sense...I put the 21" back on, and she wasn't quite as responsive from winter driving- i've been enjoying lower(ish) gas prices and finishing off the original bridgestones; now she runs like i remember and explains the hard double downshift due to "spirited driving" :smug:
