So, as the title says, my doors won't unlock when it gets hot outside. by this I mean, if the car sits in the sun, when I unlock the doors, whichever doors that got hit with the heat the most will not unlock. I have to unlock them manually inside. Has anyone had any experience with this? If so, any ideas to the issue and/or fix? Thanks.

on our '05 awd FX we had a similar problem: the doors wouldnt lock sometimes. Sometimes the driver side would lock and the others wouldnt and vise versa. We ended up going to an infiniti dealer and it was fixed

I had this problem once. Literally once. After a few minutes of fiddling with the lock button it slowly started working again. That was about 11 months ago and I haven't had a single issue since (knock on wood).

Is it a consistent problem?

Jumbo's knowledge and experience far exceeds mine, but I don't know about the door actuators as the culprit. I think the actuator problem would be specific to individual doors. If the driver's side is parked in the sun and both front and back either work or don't work in unison, I'm guessing the problem to be the electronic switch preceding the actuators. If both actuators were bad and acting up, the front and back would sometimes work or not work independently of each other.
Is the problem confined to either one side of the car or specific doors? Or, is it a case of "complete right side" and/or "complete left side" reacting the same at the same time?

P&B..it is door specific..today's example was the rear hatch. unlock the passenger and driver side, but the hatch would not open. it varies each time. doesnt happen often as I am usually part inside, but was at the driving range and the rear hatch was not in the shade, and the rest is why i started the thread.

So it affects all 5 doors similarly? Some doors aren't necessarily worse than others? How about you gas door when parked in the sun? There's an actuator there too.

yeah, if the driver side (front) gets hot, when I unlock it, i might have to open the rear door and reach to the front. I have never noticed it on the gas door. it can be one side or one door, it has happened in various ways. been doing it for a while, just hadn't got on here to see if anyone knows anything about it.

Hey Jumbo, I have been reading through that thread as well. While it seems the actuators may be the issue, I still wonder why it only happens pending the sun hitting a certain door. I never have this problem unless the car is sitting in the sun for an extended period of time. With that said, it is not too much of an issue cause I am usually parked in my garage or shaded area. Just those days where this SoCal sun cannot be avoided.
