I have a 2005 FX35 with SmartKey. I have a few lingering door/doorlock issues and I am trying to get feedback as to where to go:
1) Drivers side - Front Door (drivers door): The exterior handle works just fine and so does the smartkey button, however, the handle itself the side opposite the escutcheon pulls away from the door about half an inch, with the plastic liner as well. Basically the handle has so play to it creating a gap between the handle and the door itself. Everything works though.. I tried to fiddle with the T30 screw to tighten it thinking it would pull in, but nothing.
2) Driver Side - Rear Door & Passenger Side Front Door: The locking mechanism fails often. Meaning, I could unlock it from the inside by hand, close all the doors, press the lock on the remote and then pull the handle on either of these doors and it wont be locked, door will open and alarm will go off. It doesn't seem like the lock itself works and it fails. Is this the dreaded actuator?
