Does anyone run 285/35/22???

My current setup is 265/35/22, 15mm rim offset, but I am thinking about changing over to 285/35/22 for the following reason:

- a little more than a 1/4" more of sidewall
- a little but less road noise
- a little more protection for the rims

However, will the size difference to 285 make my tire "bulge" out more? I'm concerned that it would rub or look like I have the wrong offset.

Any thoughts???

I do believe that you would have some sort of rubbing at the rear. You will probably have to shave the rear just a tab.

Yet, you might be cutting it real close if you don't shave the rear since you are running your set up with 15MM spacers.

I opted not to got up to 285 since I did not want to deal with the issue of shaving the back...

none, and I have 20mm spacers in the back. the day I had these wheels mounted, I drove home with the ol' Foose wheels/tires in the back (a good 250lbs at least), no rubbing not even when I went over speed bumps, (those wheels actually sat in the back for a few days, til I found a place for them).

oh, and my fenders aren't rolled either

Guys, he is not saying he has 15mm spacers in the rear. He says his rear wheels have a 15mm offset. That is totally different.

Ken, I don't think your rear wheels have that aggressive an offset so the setup is different for you.

But Humberto is right, you may have some issues with rubbing in the rear with 285's but it would also depend on how much sidewall bulge the new tire has.
 
I need new tires and I have 285/35/22. I want a little more meet. Would I be able to maybe get a 285/40/22 or 285/45/22?

You can run any of those size mentioned HOWEVER, width, offset and if your running a spacer play a big key whether your going to rub or not. To accuratly know whether you going to rub or not we need to know:

Rim:
dia
width
offset
&
Tire size

For example you can run a 22" x 10" 40mm with a 285/40/22 and be just about perfectly flush. Make that offset 35mm or the tread width 305 and your gettin really close to rubbing if not rubbing

I don't have spacers and my wheel is 22x9. My FX is lowered on H&R's with the front springs cut half a coil.

Right now I have 285/35/22 and I have no rubbing whatsoever.

I just want to go from 285/35/22 to 285/40/22 Just want a little more meat on the tires.

Do you know your rim offset?
 
Carlos, just be aware that the bigger tire will throw off your speedo by 3.8% and read lower than your previous setup. But you should have no issues with rubbing.
