Day & Night (Auto) display brightness modes

Hey just noticed a quirk on my ride after a few days of ownership.

Does the display screen on the 2nd gen not automatically go into "night (auto" mode when it's night time outside? Or is it an issue with my car?

I find it a little strange that I have to press the brightness button to manually toggle between the day mode and night mode.. 1st gen handled this for you based on whether your headlights (whether in auto mode or not) were on on or off.
 
Isn't it a setting you can change? On my 1st gen, you can select whether or not it automatically goes to night mode (I think). I had to change it once after the dealer reset everything. Didn't notice until one night everything was incredibly bright and I couldn't figure out why.
 
yea it should be auto when the headlights turn on but you can set it on manuel and in auto you still can adjust the brightness
 
On the first gen, once you toggle it manually, it will stay in Manual mode. To return to Auto, you have to cycle through them again.

I figured as much, guess it's something the dealer should take a look at.. I can't for the life me set it up where Auto works.
 
It's right on the display button for day/night on the NAVI. It should toggle through day/night/auto for you. Very very simple.
