My 09 dash is worn and is cracking where I rest my knee against it. The damage, see picture, covers two pieces of dash so replacement would be $$$$. I thought about putting a knee pad over the damage to cover it and prevent additional damage from my knee rubbing it. A Google search finds knee pads made for that exact spot in Mustangs, thin pad shaped to fit that area covered in the same material as the dash. Can't find such for an FX. I'm hoping someone has a fix or suggestion.

Thanks,

MC

She is an 09 with just over 100k. You can see my problem, replacing these pieces would be tough. Basically stress fractures and rubbed smooth by my knee. I would like to simply glue something over this area, hence the knee pad like the Mustang, to hide this and prevent additional damage. The rest of the dash is pristine.

Can you use those leather repair kits? Some come with a similar texture "template" for the fix... Probably the easiest way to get by and it's in a pretty dark area, so won't be super noticeable...

Yeah, that's likely what I'll do. You are right, it's in a dark place, thank goodness, have to look hard to see it.

I think your best bet is to find a universal knee pad that fits that spot... or just make one yourself. As a short term or "disposable" solution, you could use a neoprene patch large enough to cover the area. It might need to be replaced every year or so as it wears but it would be a good looking easy thing to do.
