One thing I'm not clear on, or at least what the later fails to address, is what happens if the previous owner fixed the dash themselves but didn't do it right, will the dealer still honor this warranty?

Can you elaborate on how the previous owner didn't do it right? As far as dash replacement goes, the dealership can and will only replace if if there are bubbles popping out here and there. Anything other than that, I think they will make you pay for it. Now if you can prove that the previous owner replaced the dash with a new one and paid for it, they should get a refund for it. Either or, I don't see a whole lot i n this for you.

No real bubble issues but had five 2" - 3" cracks (near each of the speakers) that just formed in past few weeks all of a sudden on an 2003 FX45. Dealer replaced dash under extended warranty. As I've heard, the dash color matched well but was matte finish. Shined right up once it was oil rubbed.

Well, I finally had the dash fixed,...for free under the recall.

The previous owner had covered the dash with black synthetic leather-looking material I guess to mask-off the bubbles but didn't do a good job at it. Prolly why they sold the car.

Anyway, I called Infiniti corporate and they directed me to a dealer close to my house. At first, the service guys were like this is not covered as it's not an Infiniti dash. I countered back but they were really adamant, before I decided to just rip out the cloth material covering the dash in front of them. That's when the supervisor walking in and told them to check in my car. She is good now..

Happy motoring.

mine bubbled up a 2nd time, Cheryl replaced it again for me. This new dash looks different

The first time you had it done, was it before the recall was even official? You probably got an old defective, before the problem was addressed by Infiniti. The new is definitely different color and the texture is slightly different too.

Yeah I was part of the original group that had it done way back when.

curious what the correlation is between garage kept and no bubbles, I'm doing good but keep it inside as much as possible... how bad is the sun for the dash?

Wanted to bump this thread to make sure everyone is aware of the warranty ext. My '08 FX45 at 65k miles started to bubble. Bought the car used on the East Coast at 48k, started bubble after I moved to So Cal. The So Cal sun is no joke. I do park outside. I'm glad I found this thread and hope to get this done soon.

Thanks for the bump, I just bought my FX and got the used dealership to give me a pricing break due to the bubbling on the dash, however was not aware it was a known issue. I figured to recover it in suede down the road. After seeing this thread, I gave a call to my local dealership and the car is going in for service at 12PM. Awesome :good:

Thankfully, my 03 has no bubbles to date. KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK on every piece of wood reachable. I have a feeling a lot of that may be due to the fact that it was born and raised in Seattle, WA, where the high hits mid 90's for less than a week of the year. It now lives in Oakland/Bay Area and I am sure these longer, hotter summers are going to test my luck.

I am taking precautions with a brand new HeatSheild sun visor. This thing runs edge to edge the entire way around the windshield, literally no sun light comes through the windshield except for just above the rear view mirror. Its a little bulky to roll up and store, but worth the inconvenience to me at least.

Can anyone confirm part number for this new dashboard please?
Black. Infiniti factory part number 68200-CL75C. This item is 100% genuine OEM from Infiniti, brand new. This is the same item you would purchase from your local dealership.

Is it the same what I need to put on?

My 03 has lots of bubbles but the dealership refused to replace it because it is out of warranty. I did not know about bubbling warranty until I found it in this forum :(
