Custom Suspension Arms

Just thought I'd share this if anyone wants to custom their own parts.

I recently teamed up with a Formula Drift driver who specializes in suspension and he finally agreed to helping me out, he usually doesn't like taking projects like this due to the nature of too much custom work involved and issues always show up, in my case there were indeed a lot of issues.

Most of you may think this is the camber fix for the FX that we've been waiting for, it's not. The new arm is a custom SPL arm that was modified to fit the FX. The next issue was the springs not seating right, if you get the BC Racing coilovers you are basically stuck with the springs and spring rates, no other springs work. I wanted to go stiffer springs all around (BC comes 12F/11R) so I went with stiffer Swift's and couldn't be happier. I also didn't like the way the BC's rode so I had them rebuilt and revalved to match the new spring rates. End result? The new arm fixed toe to 0 and brought the camber back out from -4.7 to -3.6 (a great increase in my eyes without having to modify the camber arm).

The FX will more than likely go back to get some more suspension work, hopefully a front camber arm as well. Total damage? Well over $3,000 but function is everything to me and I for sure as heck do not like changing my tires every 2,500 miles thanks to the messed up toe wear.

For those that want to do this, I suggest you get your wallet ready and be ready to pay the price. Unfortunately when I talked to the FD driver he's not interested in producing more kits simply because he would have to sell quite a bit just to make up the time in developing it and refuses to do this car again, it sat in his shop for over 2 weeks just for one arm. My suggestion is find a local suspension shop near you and with a fat wallet you can fix the FX suspension :rotfl:

Congrats that's awesome stuff Lerry. I just wish some company would help us out and produce a camber kit for the front and back but looks like that will never happen.

yeah unfortunately there just isn't enough of us to buy to make it worth it for them, honestly in a manufacturing side of things if a decent sized company doesn't sell at least 75-100 sets, it's a bad business decision =/ I just couldn't wait
