Yeah, I was a little surprised to see as many clamps also. I thought I would also have everything welded up one day. Not sure if you can see it from the photos, but the connections are flared and slotted, then the clamp goes over the slotted section. It's a solid design, if not so pretty. I would assume you would cut away the slotted sections before welding permanently.
I thought most people would weld it that way unless they wanted the flexibility of disassembly for some reason (which I do until after I go FI). You can also adjust the tip length a little. Plus it's a super-easy bolt on for anybody. Stillen claimed stainless steel (it's on the site too) when I bought it which was a consideration for me. So far I don't have any rust (got about 15K miles on it). I can tell you the kit is HEAVY, which is consistent with steel vs stock. But I'll definitely keep the scene posted if corrosion begins. I'm under the car a bit and even do an under-car wipe down every so often, so I'll be watching for it.
