Crossbar screw holes on the roof rail

My 2011 FX35 has had the crossbars since the day I bought the car. I think I want to take them off. My understanding is that on the roof rails, there are supposed to be caps that would cover up the crossbar screw holes.

I thought since the crossbars are dealer-installed, maybe they would have these caps laying around to give away, but instead, they quoted me at least $250 for 8 caps! Rediculous!

If I don't cover up these holes, will it rust? I can use the crossbar screws, but I want to include them when I sell the crossbars.

You'll have bigger problems than just rust!the holes lead straight to your headliner. I looked into this myself and went out of the way of ordering https://www.ebay.com/itm/302094304344
Then I moved to Colorado and decided I needed my rack for winter sports so I ditched the idea. However I still have the rails for the top they just need paint. If you want them PM me I'll let them go super cheap. Cheers

OP is looking for the plug to cover the screws holes on the side rails as he removed his cross bar.

The side rails are made of aluminum. It not going to rust. Just take a screw from the cross bar to match it up for a replacement screw at your local hardware store. If you worry about rust and water, just apply a little dap of silicone near the end of the replacement screw and tighten it in.... done.

Yeah, they ain't cheap, that's for sure. I just finally got my cross bars taken off. Whoever put them on originally didn't use the correct mounting screws and they wouldn't come out normally. Had the dealer take them out while they replaced my CV shaft under warranty.
