Compare your oil analysis results with other FXs - Blackstone labs

good point
Another thing you may want to look into is that the VK50 motor using VVEL (variable valve event and lift) technology. The lifters in that are more prone to wear which leads to noise when you don't use an oil with an ester additive in it like the Nissan Ester oil or Redline motor oil. The VVEL engines are very demanding from what I've seen on G37's that also use VVEL. The ester helps reduce friction more. The high copper could also be coming from your engine internals wearing alot more since your not using the ester oil. It wouldn't hurt to try it once and report back.

Here is mine. Party time!

I have no idea what it means, or why my engine is taking Magnesium pills.

Your report is the reason why I have started a 3K mile oil change routine for now on. I believe that the Nissan spec oil filters are too small to go the longer oil change intervals above 5k. The oil is good in the other Blackstone reports I read with shorter changes, but the reports with the longer oil changes have a lot of silicon present. I believe this is because the smaller Nissan spec oil filters stop filtering the oil, and have gone into bypass mode in which dirty unfiltered oil is allowed to flow back into the engines after so many miles due to the Nissan spec oil filters having a small capacity for holding dirt before clogging the oil filter element. Just my opinion. So until Nissan recommends a larger oil filter I will use a shorter 3k oil change period. Thank for posting the report.

I run the slightly larger 110 filter for the 45 from Mobil1/K&N. Can also run the even bigger one for the Titan.

Glad that could help though. Usually I do 3750 miles, but needed to change it then since I was driving over 1k miles in the next few days. Hopefully I can do another test at 3750 and compare. Same oil/filter, so that will really give you some insight.

Interesting report Stu, thanks for sharing. Nice to know your engines health is good.

Good to see no coolant, although I'm still not sure what happened to it. Dealer said it had dex-cool in it, which I know I never put in. In fact I even have blue Peak coolant I bought when I needed to add a little.

I saw the coolant, and it did have an orange tint to the current green so they weren't totally bs'ing me.

Just bringing this thread back up. Had my oil tested at the end of last year with 4650 miles on it and here are the results with using M1 5w30 with Lucas Oil Synthetic Oil Stabilizer.
After the change I used M1 Extended Performance 5w30 and again used the Lucas Stabilizer, I will update when I send out my sample again.

I noticed that you have very low silicon levels in this report, even after running your oil for over 4k miles. Are you using the stock oil filter and air filters?

very nice. i change my oil every 2k-2.5k miles.. probally over kill but it doesn't cost much to do an oil change. i use castrol syntec / sometime titanium when on sale with mobile 1 fx45 filter.

Hmm, why use a FX45 filter on your FX35? Just because its longer for having more filtering surfaces? If so, would that affect the oil pressure?

Because Jeff did.

Also, more filtration surface area, and the oil jugs I usually get are just over 5 qts. so I like to think it evens out.

Yep, I had used the larger FX45 filters on my 35 as well. Adding slightly more oil to compensate for the extra volume too. :good:

I'm guessing the volume difference is negligible. I let mine drip for awhile last time I changed it, and it was still going after like 20 mins. This was warm too.

Just got back home and I noticed Blackstone sent me 4 of the canisters to ship oil back. It's passed time for an oil change, so now we can see what the wear looks like at >4k miles, although it was probably 80% highway.
