Common reliability issues with second-gen FX35s?

I'm thinking about buying a used second-gen FX35, and I just have a few concerns about potential reliability issues. I have seen reports on several online forums about owners having issues with radiators and coolant leaks, but the majority of these reports seem to be coming from owners of first-gen FX35s. I've also read about a number of instances of overheating and blown head gaskets, but again, these issues seem more likely to occur in older, first-gen FX35s. With that being said, are people noticing these (or similar) issues with their second-gen FX35s? Are there any other common problems I should be aware of before making a purchase?

Also, I have perused MANY reports of wheel bearings needing replacement on first-gen FX35s; is this something that is likely to occur on a second-gen FX35 as well?

Thanks in advance...

Had a 2009 FX35 which had a bad brake light (replaced under warranty), and had the transmission reflash done (no problems afterwards), and a 2012 FX50 with no issues whatsoever. In fact, I have not seen any consistent problems with the 2nd generation other than issues with the transmission shifting (cured by the reflash).

Thanks for the info. The main thing I'm concerned is potential engine problems (e.g., gasket cracks & leaks) with second-gen models, since those seemed to be fairly common on first-gen models. However, my understanding is that the the second-gen FX35 uses a completely different engine, so hopefully those kinks have been worked out. At this point, I'm down to either wanting an FX35 or a G37. I wish the 2011 FX35 was built with the VQ37VHR engine -- instead, Infiniti didn't start equipping the FX35 with that engine until the 2013 model year...

gasket cracks? havent hear of any on the 1st gen fx35 (where are you getting this info from?), maybe on the 45 but matters how you maintained it. As far as leaks on the 1st gen fx35/45 would be valve cover gasket and leaks at high mileage.

I randomly found a few threads on this forum where a few posters who thought they were experiencing thermostat or radiator issues ended up having cracks (or maybe in case, a pinhole leak?) in one of the engine's gaskets. One guy went through tons of back-and-forth issues with his dealership because they refused (at first) to acknowledge that it could be a gasket issue.

Do you know if there's anything that indicates or suggests that second-gen FX35s are also prone to developing the valve cover gasket leaks? Also, for first-gen FX35s, what is generally considered high mileage? I would really like to get as close to 300k miles on whatever I end up purchasing, and maybe even more miles than that.

Ive seen members notice there valve gasket leaking 70k +. But it mostly happens around 90k. The seals around the spark plugs housing start to get brittle and leak..I hope they used a different material on the 2nd gens

heres more info

Thanks for the links. Does anyone know if Infiniti fixed valve gasket issue for the second-gen engine?

i have a 2010 for 3 yrs now and have not ran into any issue except normal maintance

Good to hear; how many miles are on it so far?

The biggest issue I have been having so far is my gas tank reading Empty when full. Happened to me 4 times already, super annoying. Other than that it's been a solid car.
