Clanking/grinding noise when turning steering

Not sure if this is the appropriate forum, but I'm getting like a clanking, sort of grinding noise when I turn my steering wheel all the way to the left while the car is stopped. I was trying to switch lanes, and its like something is out of place or being adjusted and I was like :eek.:

I just wanted to check whether you guys were getting similar noises, and what it could be? I'm going to take it to the dealer because its too much to be not noticeable.

Common issue and there is a TSB on it:

https://www.infinitiscene.com/search/1/?q=10485-Whine-and-or-Vibration-from-Transfer-Case-Assembly

[h=2]Whine and/or Vibration from Transfer Case Assembly[/h]
ITB09064

  • IF YOU CONFIRM: A whine noise and/or vibration from the transfer case assembly when making right or left turns at slow speeds, and/or stopped with steering wheel turned to almost full extent in either direction, and then applying slight acceleration. ACTION 1. Replace the electric controlled coupling in the transfer assembly. 2. For FX35 only, built before the following VIN and date, also replace the air breather vent. - FX35 built before JN8AS1MW(*)AM 851594 and October 27, 2009. See this bulletin for further detail.

I don't have this problem, but I just posted it up for you guy's if you need help.

Thanks guys! I read through the TSB but didn't think it applied to me. I'll take it in soon. Why do I feel like the dealership always fucks with my car more than necessary?

Anyways, I might have to get that low pitched whine from the A/C hose fixed..again. Got it done once, but might have to get it done AGAIN. Hasn't solved the issue.

I posted the below a week ago or so but didnt get any replies. I wonder if this is the same problem being discussed here as I was actually turning the steering wheel about 90 degrees while "climbing" my friends drive way?
QUOTE=While driving up a friends steep driveway (approx. 70% grade) at no more than 5 MPH I heard and felt a loud grunt comming from the front under carriage. I only have 14k miles on the F. It has never done this before. It felt like a sub frame shifting or loose suspension component . I wonder if it is due to the AWD being engaged (being under 12 MPH) and trying to slip one or more wheels like when you are on dry pavement with hard 4 wheel drive axles?
Once back on a level street there wasnt any more noise while either stopping/starting /hard acceleration

Here is another TSB ITB12-047:

2009-2012 INFINITI FX; METALLIC CLICKING NOISE DURING STEERING WHEEL ROTATION

so what are they saying is the cause and fix?

Not sure, haven't taken the car in yet. My IBA off light keeps flashing on and off at its own will as well. When I took it to them for that last time they said they couldn't find any error codes in the braking system. I'll probably end up dropping it off next week.

Funny that you found this. I've been having this same exact problem since day 1. If you sit in park and you turn the steering wheel from left to right it makes a loud clank metallic click from the outside suspension area.

Subject: SB Metallic Clicking Noise during Steering Wheel Rotation

Summary of ITB12047:
IF YOU CONFIRM: A metallic clicking noise is present from the steering mechanism, while steering wheel is rotated. * The click occurs 1 to 0.5 turn of the steering wheel before the end stop (both directions). I think it's interfering when turning the steering wheel.

Man I can't wait to get my car back and take it in to get this fixed. I thought it was normal but now I know I'm not alone lol. It's real annoying actually. It sounds similar to what a pen sounds like hitting a metal tin can.

Yes! I'm taking mine this Thursday. Oil change is due (already) and to get this looked at. I had some dark spots on my rims too, near the center cap.. rust? Should I even bother?

Turns out they applied the TSB. The IBA light was due to my dad driving it on the curb with the rear wheels and throwing the alignment off. Hope this helps.
