Cigarette Lighter doesn't fit or work

Searched the forum and quite surprised that this hasn't been answered.

Couple questions:

1. Has anyone been able to use the cigarette lighter jack for an actual cigarette lighter?
2. If so, has anyone found one "low-profile" enough to be able to close the door/lid with it in?

Reason I ask is I tried one that I had from a previous vehicle and it doesn't work.. it doesn't lock in when you push it in, nor does warm up when you physically hold it in either.

And yes, I know that you're not "supposed" to use the cig. lighter jack for an actual cig. lighter - I read the manual.:nerd (2):

Yeah I believe they are meant to not heat up a lot and when they heat up they cool off quickly. Maybe Infiniti does not want people smoking lol

My cigarette lighter fits and heats up but I've only used it two or three times. If you have used it as a charging point for other devices it may be broken and not work as a lighter anymore. They're not designed for any other use.

You have to replace the lighter socket. Is yours not getting power or is it just not heating your lighter element?

Well, I'm 80% sure it is not getting power because if I recall correctly i tried to tap into that line when hard-wiring my radar detector (ended up having to tap into the outlet under the center arm rest). I am 100% sure that nothing charges from that outlet and do not have a heating element to test if it heats. With a voltmeter how do you test a cigarette lighter for power from the outside?

Anybody know exactly where the fuse is for this?
